On Education Reform

The education system needs reform. It is too focused on high-stakes exams, perpetuating the privilege of elites and producing “excellent sheep”. The current “factory” system is too self-serving, feeds consumerism, and is often harmful to our children and planet. It has become an arms race.

Here are some of my thoughts on the challenges of education reform and why I think it has a “Wizard of Oz problem” – a problem that needs more brain, more heart, and more courage!

  1. This one is about how the elite education system is self-perpetuating.

2. This one is about how education reform is a wicked problem that needs more brain, heart, and courage to solve.

3. This one is about why education reform is so difficult to get over the line, even when everybody wants to do it.

4. This one is about the need for a new, not repatched, education system.

5. This one offers a possible solution to make the current education system fairer.
